You Got to Commute It, Commute It

Today, for a movement activity during math, we commuted around the room. We learned commute means to move and that there is rule that says no matter how you move the addends, the answer will be the same.  We also learned that is NOT true for subtraction.  When you subtract in second grade, the highest value is always first.

We read our second book about a word collector that was different from the first one we read. Big vocabulary will be a focus of Second Grade.

So many of us already know the continents, wow!  Our first country of study will be one found on the continent of Asia.

Today was our first trip to the library.

We've begun our study on the Circle of Grace.  We talked about loving ways to request someone to not get so close, when the person is friend or family and isn't making us feel weird.  We talked about ways to set boundaries with our voice and actions when we feel we need it.

Writing will happen in an inverse operation in second grade.  We will create backgrounds of various kinds and see if we can find

a story in our art.  Today we were aiming to create a dark mood.

We used different tools to create a variety of textures.
