Ninja Pigs

We started our day on Tuesday with some free math work.  We work in small groups of two or three. Each group has a different manipulative.  We create math from what we have.  The group with a roll of masking tape, a string and a ruler figured out the distance around and across the tape and learned the names- circumference and diameter.  Little by little, we are picking up on some new vocabulary for 3-d shapes like "faces" and "vertices."  After each group shared, we moved onto our daily math, which was pretty easy really.
We heard our last two pig stories today.  One was an old Appalachian story and the other one had Ninja pigs. So fun.
We experienced some dot art and Mrs. Paris experienced some blob art on her shirt when she tried to open a marker for us.

Ms. Christy came again to visit and reviewed using "I" messages, conflicts and resolutions, win-lose. Today we talked about making decisions.

We started our morning with our nativity picture, graciously created by Mrs. Waiz and Mrs. Sellers, with a little help from Mrs. Clegg, Mrs. Heck, Mrs. Belicove and Mrs. Clemmer-Becht.  Thank you so much for all your hard work this morning.

We headed out to the garden today for watering and a lesson on seed dispersal.  We deadheaded flowers in the garden, then brought them in to look at and find the seeds.

In October, we will teach a class in the garden to the rest of the school about seeds.

We are learning Oh, Susanna in preparation for our square dancing that is coming up!

In art, we are learning to do a straight stitch before tackling an art process from India.

In Science today, we measured the grams of blueberries and grapes.

We will see what happens to the matter in the fruit, after being exposed to the sun's energy.

We had our very first speech by our Student Council Representative.

We are ready for Grandparent's Day!
