A Blast from Our Past

We've spent most of this semester in the past, learning about our ancestors, our area,  and how we got to be here.  Today, our special people came for our Biography Tea.  We made lots of yummy treats.

We shared briefly about what we've been learning, sang a song about where we live, then introduced them to our ancestors.

After our big show, we got to show our special people around to see all the great things we've been working on.

We saved a big cucumber treat so our guests could see how our snails flock to the buffet. Wouldn't you know, not a one showed his face till everyone left. Then they didn't waste anytime running for the feast.

We are learning about the sun, and another classmate, who's grandpa grew popcorn, brought us another treat, so we enjoyed it while we watched Bill Nye telling about that big energy producer in the sky.

Mrs. Paris noticed the sun peeking out, so in our ancestor attire and boots, we made our way to the creek. There was water! We declared November 22 National Creek Day!

At last, we got to sample our treats and have a cinnamon roll.
Another student shared a quilt her grandma made.

So ended our big, exciting day!

Earlier in the week, we got to watch, on the big screen, our classmate at a sheep show.
Learning about adjectives is more fun when you get to see, taste,  hear and smell some colorful Skittles.

Second grade is running over with talent and learning.  A big thanks to everyone who joined our learning adventure this week!

Veteran's Day

We second graders sure took those songs seriously and sang our hearts out on Veteran's Day!

The Construction Team did an amazing job using their resources to create a sports arena!
Our wonderful and faithful volunteer practiced math with dominoes this week.
Our Math Spark Station is learning about area and perimeter.  They created shapes and counted.
Art this week was twirlies.  It was cool to see our art work animated.
We've been practicing all week to be ready for our Biography Tea.
We can hardly wait to share with you!
