A Hive of Busy Bees

Still baking
And Soap Making,

And manipulating,
And making Mr.Paris say, "Aww, so sweet."
And card creating,
And rain making,
And taking a closer look,
And seeing what is up in the cup,

And cloud creating,
And piggy corralling, what?
 And science smiling,
And Haiku writing,

And wondering where the wind blows.

And another look at our current experiment,
Mrs. Paris loves seeing her busy bees in all kinds of learning situations.

Haiku

April is poetry month and perhaps because of my great love of God's stunning creation, I  really like one style of poetry- haiku.

I love your poetry!

   Flowers by E. C-B.

     Flowers in the spring
Flowers in the morning fog
     Flowers are colorful

We play in the creek.

We find butterflies and worms.

We help to save them.
by C. N.

This experience is surely worthy of a haiku, don't you think?

What's Happening

Let me say, I'm not having the best time with this anomometer. The wind gauge was easier. Fool around with whatever you have to make one. Look up the sites I've sent to see what weathermen or weatherwomen use.
Love seeing your work.

He who plants the seed beneath the sod and waits to see believes in God.

Way to upcycle an outgrown dress!

Wise almost third graders read, read, read, read!

It was fun to hang out yesterday. Don't worry if you missed it. You can join another time.

You know I love every one of you, but I must say Mr. K.H. won student of the day when this was delivered to my door yesterday!  So delicious.
So, I'm off to cook a meal for an elderly friend of mine and then more videos, yee haw!!!!

And Corona Goes On

I so love to see you busy doing all kinds of learning.  I see art and cultural studies, science, reading, writing, social studies, religion.

 Makes Mrs. Paris smile  big!!!

So happy someone accepted the egg carton challenge.

Japanese Kimono. Nice job!

Don't have a desk?  Make your own. So clever!

That Japanese art of origami, practiced by my students.

Anything to add some color to our situation!

Speaking of colorful, what a colorful way to decorate your yard!

Way to tackle a science experiment!

Whoa, look at some of the things it takes to bring a simple pancake to your plate!

Hooray, I'm done!

Happy Easter

It looks like some of you enjoyed homemade bread over the weekend. Good for you!

I hope you do a lot of measuring and real work with measurement and fractions in this home time.

Continue to add to your adventure story this week.
Are you showing with your words, not just telling?
For example- I walked along the creek. A little boring. Let's try again.
As I meandered along the rocky creek bank, the rippling water was as cold as ice.
Do you see the simile?  "as cold as ice"  Similes bring things to mind through our senses.

Where am I, I wondered as I stared through the thick, black bars into a pair of kind blue eyes. I knew I was no longer in my beautiful forest home with my own mama and all my extended family. I remember clinging desperately to my mother as she tried to outrun something chasing us.  Then I heard a loud and awful sound and we fell. Something ran up and grabbed me, and stuffed me in a sack.  Now I don't see anyone I know. Where am I?

"You're okay little one."  The kind blue eyes is making sounds, but I don't know what those sounds mean, though they sound like a gentle rain.  Now she is moving closer and moving the black bars and reaching in to grab me and take me out.  Fearfully I cling to her chest as she gently pats my back and make soft sounds.  Slowly we move through trees and I wonder if I'm back home, but these leaves look different.  I quickly sneak out my hand to grab a branch with young tender leaves. We meander along a rocky creek and squat down to get a drink.  Wow, what a shock, the water is not warm or cool, but makes me shake with cold.   No, this is better than the bars, but it isn't home.

Can you find a simile in my second paragraph?
Can you use a simile in your writing this week?

I hope to make my weekly visit to our classroom today.  I want to see what is happening in the bluebird box.
This is what was happening last week.
First, I was happy to see that it is a bluebird's nest. How do I know?  It is  made from pine needles. Not moss like the black capped chickadee, not lichen like a hummingbird, not sticks like a house wren, not a mess of any and every thing that those invasive sparrows make.
Bluebird eggs are small and blue. They can be white, but usually they are blue.

It will fun to see if there are more today.

I hope you are having a good day today.
